Q: Why cross-posting requests for help in many Facebook groups is bad?
A: We are talking about cross-posting of the same question from the same person in the same time in the several Facebook groups.
This is bad behavior and mostly against groups rules. It is a disrespect of the people who use their free time to help people with the questions and they are ‘bombarded’ with the same question in several groups in short period of time.
People/helpers usually see this behavior as ‘cheating’:
“I spent my free time to answer your question/help you out and you are asking others at the same time and we all ‘spend’ our free time on you instead trying to help some other person in need at that time as you already got your help.”
This is a ‘greedy’ behaviour from the people who want all the attention to themselves and not caring about others that need help too, as they need or even more.
People that are cross-posting requests for help in many Facebook groups try ‘to hack’ the free system in Facebook groups to get the best (free) support on the account of other people in need. These are usually persons who don’t want to research, who don’t want to read. They’d rather have the solution spoon-fed to them… in the same time from the various Facebook groups.
Most likely the “regulars”, members who hit multiple WP groups, will see the same thing everywhere and never respond to any of them.
You get a lot of activity on one group and ignore the others – even when people are commenting and asking questions. Bad manners.
People in one group likely can’t see the other group or the comments going on there. You end up with everyone repeating themselves OR 2 conversations that go in wildly different directions. Confusion, repetition, wasted time all around. Don’t waste your time or ours.
Proper behavior is: if you didn’t get a quality (or any) answer in one Facebook group or you are not satisfied with the answer, you can ask in another group in a 1-3 days since we are a global community.
